Easements
and Permits
When extending electric service
to you, it may be necessary to cross properties that lay adjacent
to yours. An easement
will need to be signed by the respective landowner. Lincoln
Electric Cooperative (LEC) will prepare the easement for signature;
however, you can help facilitate the signing of the easement
by getting acquainted with your neighbor. Visit
with them about your need for obtaining electric service and
what the possibilities may be for crossing their property with
a power line to provide this service to you. These
easement forms are to be notarized. We
have notaries in our office that can provide this service for
you. In the event
a permit is required (Forest Service, Burlington Northern Railroad,
DNRC, etc.) prior to doing the line extension, you may be required
to pay an additional fee, plus any fees required by
the respective permitting agency.
LEC will prepare and make application for these permits.
Applications for electrical
permits are available at the LEC office. Applying online for an
electrical permit is now also available through the state of
Montana Department of Labor and industry website. The process
can be done quickly and payment is accepted in the form of Visa
or MasterCard credit card or with an E-check. Click here
to access the State's link to electrical permit information and
forms. * Please remember
LEC will need to be provided with proof of a State of Montana
electrical permit before work can be released for construction.
