Meter
Reading
Virtually every meter on the system is equipped with an
automated meter reading device called a Turtle. This
device automatically sends a meter reading to a receiver in our substations
about every 27 hours. Once a month,
typically around the 20th, we download the readings to render a
monthly bill. Bills are calculated
between the current reading and the previous reading. Turtles are a great
feature. You no longer have to go
out and read your meter each month, and they are helpful in diagnosing high
usage questions when they arise.
